Braided Channels
I find these braided, or "dendritic," channels mesmerizing to observe. Throughout the spring and summer, the channels are amazingly consistent in their pattern. BP (Betsy Peabody) of the Pudget Sound Restoration Fund, says that these patterns are seasonal and heavy freshwater flows during the winter months can cause a "fire hosing" effect, where summer patterns are erased and completely new tracks are laid. Super cool.
